The first in our spotlight on the custom Road Star builders for the upcoming Metric Revolution TV show is Sam Nehme from BMS Choppers. Sam joined the motorsports business at the age of 12 and at the ripe old age of 32 he is the owner of BMS Choppers and now one of the competitors in the bike build offs that will be featured on Metric Revolution.
Sam Nemhes’ $120,000 Yamah Road Star
As we said, Sam joined the motorsports business at age 12 sweeping floors at a local shop called R&R Jet Tech. Over the years he continued to work at R&R and after graduating high school and two years of college, he became the GM of two locations.
In 1999 a large Motorsports chain called PowerSports bought R&R. Sam stayed on as the GM for two of their locations. In 1999 he bought his first cruiser, he bought a Yamaha Road Star because he wanted to ride something that he sold in the dealership. Sam then started customizing the Roadie even though the dealership frowned on the practice and thought that the bikes should be left the way they were.
So in 2002, Sam bought Broward Motorsports and then he started really customizing. Being the boss naturally meant was no one to hold him back anymore. At that point Sam felt it was time to start BMS Choppers, a division of Broward Motorsports.
Sam’s bikes have been on numerous front covers including the likes of RoadBike, Crossroads, Hot Action, V-Twin and Kranked magazines. This year he also was selected to be in the 2006 Yamaha Star calendar. Also every year BMS Choppers is asked to be in the Yamaha booths at both Bike Week and Biketoberfest in Daytona. They are also one of the only authorized Yamaha dealers that customize the bikes to this magnitude.
